Q: Do you have a microphone that we can use?
A: Yes. A wireless handheld is also available at no additional fee.
Q: We have a video/slideshow at our event. Can they plug into your
system for sound?
A: Yes. Provided they have an RCA, XLR, or 1/4" connection and a
cable long enough to reach from their video player to my console.
Most video companies we have come across have had the right
connections and enough cable. It never hurts to ask..
Q: Do you have karaoke?
A: No.
Q: Can we hook up a karaoke unit to your system?
A: Yes. Please try to bring enough cable to reach my console from
your unit. RCA plugs (the red and white ones used to connect your
VCR/DVD player) are most common. Spare cables aren't always
available.
Q: We're also having a live band/solo music artist. Can they plug into
your system?
A: Normally, bands come with their own set of amps and speakers.
Sometimes it's just a one-piece guitarist or two-piece duet that travel
light. Sometimes it's a big group. We don't carry the right equipment
for mixing down a huge band so it all depends on what the artists'
needs are. Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't. And as long as
they watch their levels for distortion and have good on-stage etiquette,
it should be okay.
Q: Can you play clean music?
A: All music played at a function has been edited by either the record
company or myself. They can be played on the radio with no problems
with the FCC. As for content, 90% of today's music tend to talk about
sex, drugs, and/or violence directly or indirectly. Playlists tend to be
stricter for intermediate school functions or where younger kids are
bound to be present.
Q: Do you take requests?
A: Always.
Q: Will you be playing at the party?
A: Yes. There are no other DJ's that will be playing. This is not a
multi-operational company where you talk to the person you think you
are getting and end up with another.
Q: What if you get sick or something happens?
A: I network with many other professional DJ's that are a phone call
away. I scratch their back, they scratch mine. Unless I am deathly ill or
something nasty happens along the way to the event (knock on wood),
I will be the DJ for your event.
Q: Why do you always talk about "we" when you're a solo-DJ
operation?
A: I prefer not to work alone on gigs. An assistant is with me at all
functions so I can't take all the credit.
Q: How many people go with you on a gig?
A: A total of 2 people (DJ included). Occasionally 3. That's it.
Q: Do you have a music list?
A: Right here.
